چکیده

This paper describes the creation of a forest fire history database for part of the Far East region of Asia using remotely sensed data, Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR). The algorithm for burnt scar mapping utilizes an active fire detection technique together with detection of abrupt vegetation damage depicted by time series of the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI). The forest fire database is stored in Geographic Information System (GIS) format, which permits easy utilization for further research. We used the forest fire database for three purposes: a) for simulating biomass burning, b) for estimating biophysical variables, and c) for correlating weather anomalies with the fire’s occurrence.

Forest Fire Potential Modeling and Simulation of its Extension Using Remote Sensing Data and GIS: (A Protected Area of Arasbaran)

Forest fire models are generally used in different aspects of fire management and are helpful in understanding and prediction of fire behavior. Forest fires cause a significant damage for public property by destroying a large tract of forest.  This helps fire fighters to focus on an area with greater risk and to develop better substructure for fire fighter training and ultimately to plan fire-f...

Real-time detection of wildlife using NOAA/AVHRR data Study area :(Kayamaki Wildlife Refuge)

Forest fire in recent years has paid great attention to climate change and ecosystems. Remote sensing is a quick and inexpensive way to detect and monitor forest fires on a large scale. The purpose of this study was to identify forest and rangeland fire hazards using NOAA / AVHRR in Kayamaki Wildlife Refuge. For the purpose of this study, the history of the fire-burns occurred in MODIS products...

Crisis Management in Forest Fire by use of Image Landsat in Model Fire Risk (Case Study: Bioreh Protected Area, Illam Province)

Forest fire brings forest destruction as an important part of human environments, air pollution, and the loss of wealth and facilities, and endangers the lives of human beings in the vicinity of the forest. It is one of the examples of natural crises and is considered to be a crisis management. Identifying the effective factors in the occurrence of fire and hazard zoning is one of the basic too...

Recent acceleration of biomass burning and carbon losses in Alaskan forests and peatlands

Climate change has increased the area affected by forest fires each year in boreal North America1,2. Increases in burned area and fire frequency are expected to stimulate boreal carbon losses3–5. However, the impact of wildfires on carbon emissions is also affected by the severity of burning. How climate change influences the severity of biomass burning has proved difficult to assess. Here, we ...
